GUIDED TRIPS
2013 Schedule
Our trips are geared to small groups and are on easy
waters making this a great way to enter into the sport of paddling.
Several trips provide an early evening or moonlight paddling adventure.
Our tour guides come from a variety of backgrounds and all possess
the skills and attitudes necessary to offer a fun and safe trip.
We hope you will find a trip that meets your needs and interests.
RESERVATION DETAILS
Reservations are required for all trips.
Full payment is required on all reservations.
All prices are per person.
All trips include boat, PFD, paddle and skirt when appropriate.
Receive a $10 discount if
you have and use your own appropriate equipment.
Participants are responsible for their own lunch or snacks and plenty
of liquids (NO GLASS ITEMS, PLEASE).
Cancellations made at least 5 days prior to the scheduled trip date
will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 5 days of
the scheduled trip date will forfeit the entire fee. CCK reserves
the right to cancel trips for any reason, including but not limited
to, insufficient sign ups and hazardous conditions.

LIABILITY
We strive to provide quality gear and safety conscious guides. Water
sports, however, as well as many other sports have inherent risks.
Due to these risks we ask that you read, accept and sign a waiver,
which we will provide prior to the trip, (view
and print waiver). If you have any health conditions, which
may impair your safety or the safety of others, please evaluate
your ability to participate in one of our trips. The use of recreational
drugs or alcohol is prohibited while participating in our tour program.
Those who are concerned about their
endurance level may arrange with a partner to paddle a double kayak.
These arrangements must be made at the time of reservation.
| BANTAM
RIVER
$69 (+ tax) per person. |
One of our most popular tours for folks of all
ages, the Bantam River slowly meanders through the 4000 acre
White Memorial Foundation, enabling paddlers to observe wildlife
in a diverse wetland sanctuary. Be on the lookout for Osprey,
Great Blue Heron, and the occasional ‘slap’ of
a beaver’s tail. We’ll paddle upstream to little
pond, then wind our way down to the Bantam Lake, where we’ll
stop for snacks at a sandy beach. Daytime, moonlight and women-only
tours are offered.
Open to all ages.
Open to solo kayaks, tandem kayaks and canoes.

| FARMINGTON
RIVER

Avon to Simsbury:
We’ll put in behind Nassau’s Furniture at Route
44 in Avon, and paddle 8.5 flat water miles to Curtis Park
in Simsbury. You’ll see the Farmington Valley from a
different perspective as we pass open meadows, farmland and
the Hublein Tower, high atop Avon Mountain.
Open to all ages.
Open to solo kayaks, tandem kayaks and canoes.

Poquonock to Connecticut River, Windsor:
We’ll begin our tour at Strawberry Hills Park in the
Poquonock section of Windsor and paddle a short distance to
the famous Bart’s Drive In for ice cream and french
fries. After our snacks, we’ll continue downstream past
Loomis Chaffee school to where the Farmington meets the CT
River, then down to the state boat launch below the Bissell
Bridge (@Route 291).
Open to all ages.

| METTABASSETT
RIVER |
Middletown to Cromwell
We will launch on the CT River at Middletown (Harbor Park)
and travel upriver to the Mattabesset River. We will explore
the marshland as we travel up the river and may even take
a short trip up the Coginchaug River. We will return to Harbor
Park.
This is a 6-mile trip. Touring kayaks are recommended. Some
paddling experience is required as well as the ability to
maintain a steady paddling speed of 3 mph for a duration of
a half hour. Ability to perform a wet exit and reenter your
kayak with assistance is required. Cold water paddling clothing
may be necessary in October.
Open to touring kayaks 14' and over.
Beginner Sea Kayak Trip, some paddling experience required.
This trip may be strenuous.

| GREAT ISLAND |
Come explore the Great Island section of the Connecticut
River estuary with us. The area's diversity offers the opportunity
to experience many different facets of paddling! During this
trip, we will encounter a tidal marsh, the mouth of the Connecticut
River and Long Island Sound. Our path will be determined by
water conditions on the day of the trip. This area also serves
as a wildlife refuge for nesting ospreys, great blue herons,
snowy egrets and swans.
Open to touring kayaks 14' and over.
Beginner Sea Kayak Trip, some paddling experience required.
This trip may be strenuous.

| SELDEN
CREEK |
The lower Connecticut River Valley offers many paddling
opportunities, and Selden Creek/Hamburg Cove is a great way
to experience one of the best! We’ll begin our trip
at the Hadlyme side of the Chester/Hadlyme ferry, paddle down
the CT River and turn onto Selden Creek. This creek flows
south, offering a quieter alternative to the busy CT. Then
its back out to the CT, where a short paddle will lead us
into the picturesque Hamburg Cove. After lunch and a tour
of the cove, we’ll paddle back to our starting point.

| FOUR
MILE RIVER |
We will launch on Four Mile River and head out
to the Long Island Sound to explore the coastline as we pass
by Rocky Neck State Park and travel to the Pattagansett River.
Depending on the participants we may be able to extend the
trip around Black Point and into Niantic Bay.
This is an 8-mile trip intended for touring kayaks. Ability
to perform a wet exit and reenter your kayak with assistance
is required. There may be some wind and waves. Spray skirts
are suggested. Cold water paddling clothing may be necessary.
Open to touring kayaks 14' and over.
Beginner Sea Kayak Trip, some paddling experience required.
This trip may be strenuous.

| CONGAMOND
LAKES |
Come and join us for an afternoon tour of the
Congamond Lakes. We will launch from Rte 168 at South Pond
and paddle into the Middle Pond, the biggest pond. We will
paddle up one shore line and pass under a tunnel into the
North Pond. Upon our return to the Middle Pond we can stop
at the boat launch for a short rest before we continue back
to the takeout at the South Pond. If time permits we can also
explore the South Pond.
This is a 6-mile trip suitable for a beginning paddler. Some
paddling experience is suggested but not required.
Open to all ages.
Open to solo kayaks, tandem kayaks and canoes.

Tours |
Our SUP tours are for those paddlers looking
to expand their enjoyment of the water! We offer both a beginner's
tour as well as a more advanced level tour.
